Posted this on KWAS as well.

Randy was cleaning tanks and came across this...

What is this?? The only new addition in this tank was some java moss bought at LAS auction in September. It's a 10g guppy tank. Is this some kind of parasite?? I'm a little freaked here...we found two of them and they are ugly looking things.

so on the KWAS forum one of the members thought it might be a damselfly nymph. I googled it and it does indeed appear to be that. So at least it isn't some horrible parasite...it's still pretty gross looking. Don't think this is going to be something we are interested in keeping!

i feed these to my fish all the time in the warmer months, what ever doesn't get eaten ends up flying around the living room Smiley  they don't get big enough to eat any fish though so they're harmless.

They eat fry though.  Some nymphs get large. When we had a pond, we were forever pulling the nymphs out to save our smaller fish.

Yes I had heard that. We killed them whenever we saw them (we ended up finding about 6 of them) Actually this weekend we were doing water changes and I happened to look on the lid of one of our tanks and there was a damsel fly (not the nymph but the actual fly) Hopefully they have come to an end. I know some people think they are cool but I really don't care for them lol.
